PS Vita

Download games directly to PS Vita

All games developed for PS Vita can be downloaded direct to the system as long as it is connected to the Internet and you have a Sony Entertainment Network account.

1. Go to PlayStation Store

Tap the PS Store icon on the PS Vita system's home screen to bring up the LiveArea screen for this service. At the top of this screen, use the action icons to redeem a voucher code (1), check out the user guide (2) or refresh the content (3) displayed on the LiveArea screen. Alternatively, you can dive straight into some of our favourite categories and downloads, or select [Start] to go the PlayStation Store home page.

Note: We recommend that you use the PS Vita system's Wi-Fi connection to download content from PlayStation Store. Some service providers may limit the amount of data that can be transferred via 3G connections. Check with your local service provider to find out what the transfer limit is for your 3G subscription if you have a PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi model.

2. Find your content

Use the Game and Video tabs (1) at the top of the page to select the type of content you're after, or use the Search box (2) in the top right of PlayStation Store to search for specific content.

If you want to browse what's on offer, you can use the touchscreen to review our selection of featured downloads (3) and more.

3. Download content

Once you've located your item, tap [Download] for free items and [Buy Now] for billable items to continue.

Select [Confirm Purchase] on the following screen for items which you need to pay for. Once you confirm the purchase, downloading starts automatically. If you do not have sufficient funds in your Sony Entertainment Network wallet to continue, you will be asked to top up your account.

4. Download progress

To check on the progress of your download, press the PS button and tap the notification indicator in the top right of the screen.

5. Play game

Once the download is complete, the game's icon will appear on the home screen. Tap this to bring up the LiveArea screen for the title and select [Start] to play.

  • To download games from PlayStation Store, you must be signed in to PlayStation Network on your PS Vita system.
  • A memory card must be inserted in your PS Vita system to download games from PlayStation Store.
  • You can set your PS Vita system so that your Sony Entertainment Network password is required at the time of purchase, before the purchase confirmation screen appears. To do this, go to [Options] > [Transaction Management] > [Security] in PlayStation Store.
  • Your PS Vita system is activated automatically the first time you purchase or download content. The number of portable devices that can be activated for your Sony Entertainment Network account is limited and differs for each content type. If the purchase or download would exceed the activation limit for the content type, a message appears and you cannot purchase or download the content. To purchase or download this content type on your PS Vita system, you must first deactivate a different portable device that is linked to your Sony Entertainment Network account and is activated. Deactivate the one using the other device, and then try to purchase or download the content again on your PS Vita system.
