The birth of Anti-Gravity Racing
The year is 2048. It's over a decade since Pierre Belmondo shattered scientific preconceptions by unveiling to the world's media a working anti-gravity generator that didn't just fashion its own laws, it defied almost four centuries of belief.
Science fiction became science fact. Belmondo had not only goaded the gods; he had, in a single moment under the blistering heat of the Nevada sun, reinvented physics.
Through its inception the sport of Anti-Gravity Racing emerged, and with it, the inaugural Anti-Gravity Racing Championships (A.G.R.C.), a contest formed under the watchful eye of fledgling technology company, Pir-Hana.
Now for the first time ever, five teams will take to the starting grids on the streets of Nova State City in a bid for glory. Welcome to the future of motorsport and the birth of ballistic racing.
Welcome to WipEout 2048 on PS Vita.
In WipEout 2048 the action takes place on the streets of Nova State City as you tear through ten brand new tracks, each one filled with unique twists and turns to keep you on your toes as you battle for supremacy in the Anti-Gravity Racing Championships.
All races in WipEout 2048 have Pass and Elite Pass criteria. For example, in the first racing season, a Pass is gained by simply finishing at least fifth, whereas an Elite Pass is only gained if you finish first, earning you lots more experience points, which in turn unlock new ships.
Alongside classic WipEout Race events, there are several other modes for you to get to grips with including Combat, Zone and Time Trial. In Race events the goal is simple: out-speed, out-gun and out-smart your opponents to the finish line first using your ship's capabilities and a series of attacking and defensive weapons, such as shields and missiles.
Combat events require you to damage and destroy as many rivals as possible in the allotted time. In a Zone event, your skills are put to the ultimate test as you try to survive for as long as you possibly can as your speed increases with each new lap of the track.
The goal in a Time Trial is to complete the race in the fastest possible time to gain either a Pass or Elite Pass. Remember, Elite Pass equals more experience points, so always try and aim for first place.
Take the A.G.R.C. online
WipEout 2048 doesn't just feature a huge single player campaign for you to master, it also includes online and local multiplayer modes for you and up to seven other players.
When playing online mode via PlayStation Network, you are presented with a series of nodes on a vast map. Each node is an objective that can be completed on any of the tracks in the game. For a simple Pass you may be just required to take part in the race, whereas an Elite Pass is gained by taking out an opponent on the track using the futuristic weapons at your disposal.
The further you progress into the online multiplayer mode, the more objectives you're tasked with completing, which in turn unlock new racing events.
One of the most unique features of WipEout 2048 on PS Vita is cross-platform play, which allows you to use your PS Vita to connect with friends playing WipEout on their PlayStation 3. With it, you'll be able to go head-to-head and experience the game's addictive online multiplayer modes in an entirely new way.
