On-demand on the move

PSP™

SCEE and BSkyB reveal more details of video on demand for PSP.

More details of the joint venture between Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and British Sky Broadcasting (Sky) were revealed at the Games Convention Leipzig.

In early 2008, Sky content will be offered to PSP owners in the UK and Ireland. This will effectively turn your PSP into a personalised library of programmes to enjoy whenever and wherever you choose. This content can be downloaded to your PSP via either a PC or directly using a Wireless connection.

Available programmes will include a diverse mix of Sky content, spanning sports, entertainment, movies, music and animation. Premier movies and high profile sporting events, normally only available to Sky subscribers will be available on a pay-per-view basis. In addition, and for the first time, Sky are working with third-party channels and content owners to offer an even wider selection.

"Working with such a well known content brand, we will be able to offer PSP owners access to the best in cross-genre Sky content, available through the first official video download service. This really will make PSP the standout all-in-one portable gaming, video and music device," commented David Reeves, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

James Murdoch, Chief Executive Officer, BSkyB, added "Sky and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have complementary strengths in content, marketing and technology. Together, we're ideally placed to make portable, on-demand TV a reality."
