SCEE and BT bring video and voice chat to PSP across Europe.
At Games Convention in Leipzig, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and British Telecom announced Go!Messenger, a communication package that makes use of the PSP system's Wireless functionality.
Due for release in early 2008, Go!Messenger lets you use your PSP to keep in touch with friends for free wherever you have access to a Wireless connection, whether at home via a Wireless broadband connection or on the move via public Wireless hotspots.
A future system software upgrade for PSP will provide all you need to use this service, including instant messaging using a new and intuitive virtual keyboard. With the addition of a headset, voice chat and voice messaging will also be possible, while users with a PSP Camera will be able to make full use of video calling.
"With Go!Messenger, the PSP is pushing new boundaries, adding unique communication features to all the existing multimedia experiences," said Stephane Hareau, PSP European Marketing Manager. "Enabling more than 8.5 million PSP users across the SCEE region to communicate with each other, through video or voice chat, truly confirms the always evolving nature and potential of PSP."
