Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. unveils an enhanced design for PSP at the Sony E3 press conference.

A more streamlined form of PSP, featuring a video-out port was announced. While maintaining the key functionality of the current PSP system, including the high resolution LCD screen, the new model (PSP-2000) is 33 percent lighter and 19 percent slimmer than the original version.

This new PSP weighs in at approximately 189g compared to the weight of the current model which is approximately 280g and measures approximately 18.6mm in thickness compared to approximately 23.0mm.

The addition of a video-out port, supporting a wide set of connections (AV cable, S VIDEO, D Terminal AV cable, Component AV cable), enables you to watch high quality UMD Video, and pictures and movies on your Memory Stick Duo, on your TV. Using a progressive scan TV and PSP specific cable you can also output gameplay.

Also, the new PSP is equipped with enhanced features that will temporarily store game data from UMD, reducing load time during gameplay. Moreover, the ability to now charge the unit via a USB cable connected to PlayStation 3 or PC makes this new model even more mobile and accessible.

Launch date, colours and price for PAL territories will be confirmed soon.
