|Release date:||19 June 2009|
Experience a music revolution on PSP.
Rock Band Unplugged reinvents band gameplay while staying true to the authentic feel of the popular Rock Band series on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2.
The title combines traditional beat matching gameplay with key elements from both Rock Band and Rock Band 2, such as overdrive and chords.
Players can expect a rich Rock Band experience with fully functional modes such as World Tour, Band Survival and Warm Up, and an in-depth character creator. Feel the music with over 40 master recordings including nine exclusive new songs that will debut on the PSP system.
Best of all, Rock Band Unplugged features the first fully featured in-game store for downloadable content on the PSP system, with the ability to download new content using the PSP system's Wireless capabilities. Powered by PlayStation Network, the in-game store can also be accessed via PlayStation Store on the PC.
The following tracks will launch exclusively through Rock Band Unplugged on the PSP system for a limited time before becoming downloadable content for other versions of the game:
3 Doors Down Kryptonite
AFI Miss Murder
Alice in Chains Would?
Black Tide Show Me the Way
Blink 182 What's My Age Again

Rock Band Unplugged
The melody making series takes to the road and heads out on the move on PSP.
Rock Band fans can now take their favourite game when on the move as the series has gone portable with Rock Band Unplugged on PSP. Players use a combination of the Triangle and Circle buttons combined with the directional buttons to keep control of the beat on each of the game's extensive track list rather than separate instruments.
As the notes fall on an instrument track, players must match the buttons with the beat for a certain amount of time before using the L and R button to jump to the next instrument to continue. Each set of notes you need to match is called a phrase, which, once completed allows the instrument to play on its own for an allotted duration while you repeat the process with the others.
Should you miss out on a note, the phrase moves further along the track requiring you to catch up quicker, but also means that you miss out on a number of notes on another instrument. You can, however, save the instrument you may have made a number of mistakes on by triggering the Overdrive mode. To build up Overdrive you need to hit the glowing notes rolling down the screen towards you, and once you have amassed enough you can then enter Overdrive, which serves as an extremely useful special ability during some of the trickier songs.
Much like the PS3 versions, Rock Band Unplugged features World Tour Mode, deep character customisation and a number of other modes including Band Survival, where all tracks play the same time, and Warmup, in which you can choose to play just one instrument for the entirety of the song. As for the choice of music itself, there are songs for every kind of music fan such as the Police's Message In A Bottle, The Smashing Pumpkins' Today, ABC from the Jackson 5 and Painkiller by heavy metal legends Judas Priest.
