See what it's like to go on an adventure with your new best friend.
Create the dog of your dreams from a range of lovable pups. Name him (or her), train him and even dress him up in cool outfits, before embarking on a quest to uncover the secrets of a lost kingdom.
Near to your new pet's home is Castlewood Island. In days gone by, it was the home of a kindly king and his beloved hound, Cosmo, who buried their greatest treasures to safeguard them from marauding invaders. Now it's up to you and your furry friend to explore the island and discover the hidden goodies.
Combining an enchanting adventure story with the ability to create and interact with your own walking, talking canine companion, PlayStation Vita Pets offers puzzle-packed fun and friendship - plus a bunch of cute pooches guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Hounds of love
PlayStation Vita Pets lets you choose your dog from four breeds: the excitable Labrador, fun-loving Dalmatian, mischievous husky and loyal collie. Each breed has its own distinctive personality, so make sure you know what you're getting into when you choose your new best friend!
After you've chosen a dog from the Adoption Centre, it's time to make him or her your own by building a lasting relationship built on love, trust and (of course) games of fetch.
They may be like real dogs in many ways, but the hounds of PlayStation Vita Pets have one important difference: they can talk. By listening to what your pup has to say, you'll soon get to know his or her character traits and discover how best to teach new tricks and skills. Work with your dog's strengths to get the best results and pretty soon you'll be ready to hunt for the king's buried treasure together...
Whether you're playing fetch in the garden of your dog's home or adventuring in the spooky surroundings of Castlewood Island, the visuals are beautifully bold and colourful. It's a joy to explore with your new hound by your side - and what's more, many elements within each environment are ripe for interaction, allowing you and your pup to investigate interesting objects such as books, maps and toys.
The music is similarly vibrant, and when your dog speaks - these dogs have a lot to say - it's with playfulness, positivity and a sense of humour that really helps your budding friendship to flourish.
Best of all are the many clever ways in which the PS Vita system's touchscreen, microphone and camera are put to use, allowing you to interact with your pup, teach him fancy new tricks and help him sniff out clues on Castlewood Island. It's like having a real dog, but without the stray hairs and chewed-up furniture!
Paws for thought
Choose a puppy, train him in basic skills and kit him out with whatever accessories you fancy (a pink bow tie always looks good). Your pup starts out a cheerful but hapless bundle of excitement and affection, and it's your job to build up his strength and abilities.
Play tug-of-war with him and your pooch will develop the muscle required to open the heavy garden gate, allowing you to take him for a walk outside. Teach him to fetch a ball and later he'll know how to fetch other, more important items.
And it's not all about training: your pup needs looking after too. You'll need to feed him, give him water when he's thirsty and even bathe him when he's dirty - and every task you undertake will earn you valuable Buddy Points that can be used to buy dog food, toys and cool outfits in the store.
When your beloved mutt is ready for action, it's time to head out to Castlewood Island and find the pieces of the old king's missing map. The island is full of puzzles that can only be solved by tapping into your pup's canine skills - and there are rich rewards for those who succeed...
