Top Tips: Gotham City Impostors

Become the perfect phoney in Batman's home town with these handy hints from Monolith, developer of Gotham City Impostors.

Gotham City Impostors on PlayStation 3 drops you into one of the freshest takes on Batman yet with its hilariously wacky online first person shooter fun. Find out how to become the best Batman or Joker pretender on the block thanks to the game's art director, David Longo.

"You... you complete me..."
Completing the Challenge mode is the best way to become familiar with the game. It gives you the great advantage of getting to grips with the different gadgets, especially the more unique ones such as the glider, grappling gun and spring boots.

The Challenges teach you how to use the gadgets effectively, with a scoring system to rate your performance, so make sure you play them before going online.

Vulture or bat, what's the difference?
Don't be afraid to set up high vantage points, pick off your enemies with ranged weapons such as the Shredder, PVC rocket launcher and sniper rifle, and then swoop in like a vulture to snatch leftover goodies.

Gotham City Impostors is designed for lots of customisation, not only for making your own Joker or Batman, but also in the way you play. For example, if you like to be speedy, choose a light body type. If you like to heal teammates, pick the Motivator megaphone which lets you shout encouraging words at your partners to increase their armour.

There's no one way to play, so experiment to figure out what equipment and body types fit your style best.

Holy bear trap, Batman!
One of my favourite tactics is leaving traps for enemies speeding around corners.
In modes like Fumigation and Psych Warfare there are specific points on the map where players have to go to, so items like the bear trap and Trap-in-the-Box are ideal to use as you don't have to be anywhere near your foe to kill them.

The glider is also very useful as you can get around the maps quickly, have a high vantage point to see where people are fighting and also for using the dive-bomb attack.

"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
If someone is really good with the glider, roller skates or grappling gun, then make use of the garden gnome which has a taser that stuns anyone who glides or grapples over it, leaving them vulnerable to attacks. The bear trap and Trap-in-the-Box - which is a proximity mine in the shape of a jack-in-the-box - are also very handy.

The joker isn't the only card in your deck
Fun Facts are your ability perks in Gotham City Impostors, so pick cards that balance out your character. If you like a light body type and want to be a bit more resilient, choose the Horse Healthy Fun Fact to add more health to your character. Or you can select Leathery Skin which makes you more immune to melee damage like knife attacks.

"Riddle me this, Batman..."
You can unlock something cool and cosmetic when you get to a certain point in Gotham City Impostors, yet it's not part of your costume, not a weapon and it's not attached to you. It doesn't come to you quickly or easily, but it won't take a long time to get, either. What is it? You'll have to play to find out...
