Master the harsh terrain in our guide to the Lost Planet 2 demo now on PlayStation Store.

With Lost Planet 2 arriving on PlayStation 3 in May 2010, Capcom has unleashed a demo on PlayStation Store for fans and newcomers to get to grips with. With the Turbulent Jungle map at your disposal and two types of matches to play through, check out this guide to mastering the Lost Planet 2 demo.

Choose your match

There are a number of ways you can take part in the action in the Lost Planet 2 demo. Firstly, you can choose to jump straight into the fight in a Quick Match for a fast and furious dose of adrenaline-fuelled action. The second way is to select Create Match from the options menu. Here you can decide whether or not you want to play Elimination where the goal is to rack up as many kills as possible in the allotted time. In Data Post Battle, the objective is to capture the posts located around the map and hold on to them for as long as possible to win.

Alter the battleground

In the Create Match option menu you can also select the layout of the map. There are two layouts on offer in the multiplayer demo, with each one altering the positioning of data posts, weapons and vehicles. Mixing it up each time you create a match is a great way to keep the game fresh when playing with your friends and other players via PlayStation Network.

Armed to the teeth

Once you have signed in to PlayStation Network, press the R1 button on the menu screen to customise your character before heading out to the battleground. Here you can choose the kind of standard, short range, long range, heavy and support weapons you want to wield during the demo. These include everything from machine guns to shotguns, pistols, plasma guns and shields.

Anchor man

In both the single and multiplayer campaign, one of your key tools is your anchor. To use it press the Square button, which then allows you to grapple onto ledges or hang from beams and shoot unsuspecting enemies below. By pressing the X button after grappling, you can also boost yourself up onto rooftops or higher terrains.

Mech-a-man

Besides the huge arsenal of weaponry available to you during the course of the demo, you can also commandeer and operate huge mechs, which are armed with heavy machine guns and are very effective at taking out enemies quickly and efficiently. The mech does take damage during battle so be careful not to get caught in it when it has taken too much gunfire, otherwise you'll perish in the explosion. If your mech is badly beaten you can take it to a safe spot, exit it and repair the damage by tapping the Circle button.
