Hit the track to make your racing game experience even more exciting with a host of new multiplayer features for WipEout HD...

Fast paced futuristic racing game WipEout HD has been given an extra boost with some superb new downloadable content for your speeding pleasure. The V1.30 update includes a selection of multiplayer features that will invigorate your anti-gravity racing.

From the update you'll be given online ranking, with over 50 ranks to progress through based on your finishing position, speed class and the rank of your opponents. Ranking points are awarded from these criteria which determine if you can make it from a WipEout Trainee to a WipEout Legend.

A new podium screen will also display the top three finishers after each online race or tournament - although even if you finish outside of the top three you still get the opportunity to earn an online badge in recognition of how you perform in the race, with 33 badges available in total.

If you want to be able to find your friends quickly and easily for a quick game of WipEout HD, game invites have now been introduced, with the addition of being able instantly to join any active online game you or your mates are currently playing. However, if you just want to watch a race that's already started, you can take advantage of the Spectator mode which lets you choose from four camera angles and any of the competing ships. After the race has been completed you will be taken back to the lobby with the other players so you can compete with them in the next race.

Finally, rounding off the bumper update are a variety of extras to customise your WipEout racing to an even greater degree, with the chance to change the number of laps, toggle barrel rolls, your HUD Weapon Hints and Pilot Assist on or off, and choose whether you want your races to be open to the public, invitees or just friends.

Think you're fast enough to handle WipEout HD now? Prove it and get on board with this new update.
