Adjust BD 1080p 24Hz Output (HDMI) settings

Optimise your Blu-ray Disc playback by tweaking these settings on your PS3.

[BD 1080p 24Hz Output (HDMI)] is as an option in [BD/DVD Settings] under Settings.

Set whether to use 1080p 24Hz video output mode for output of Blu-ray Disc (BD) video.

Automatic: Automatically switch the video output mode to match the TV that is connected.
Off: Output BD video at the maximum resolution, which has been selected for the video output settings of the PS3 system (do not output at 1080p 24Hz).
On: Set to output BD video that was recorded at 1080p 24Hz directly at a resolution of 1080p 24Hz.

  • This setting is effective only when [HDMI] has been selected in [Video Output Settings] under Settings > [Display Settings].
  • The TV or AV amplifier (receiver) that is being used must support 1080p 24Hz video mode. For details, refer to the instructions for the device in use.
  • The Blu-ray Disc (BD) in use must also support 1080p 24Hz video mode. Generally, video is recorded in 1080p 24Hz resolution for commercially available BD video software (BD-ROM) on which "1080p" is displayed as the recording mode.
  • If video does not display correctly when [Automatic] is selected, set this option to [Off].
  • Use this setting when the TV is connected to the system using an HDMI cable. Adjust the setting to match the TV in use.
  • If the video output settings do not match the TV in use, video may not be displayed on the screen when the resolution changes. However, the setting will automatically reset to the original resolution after a short time. If nothing is displayed on the screen for more than 30 seconds, turn off the system, and then turn it on again.
