2007 has been a great year for games across all the PlayStation platforms. So good, in fact, that you might have missed some of this year's best games. But never fear! eu.playstation.com is here to give you the low down on this year's must-have games just in time for Christmas. If you only get one more game this year, make sure it's one of these...
PlayStation 3
PlayStation 3 continues to go from strength to strength with a stellar line-up of titles that is getting bigger all the time. Action fans need look no further than the stunning Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a high adventure romp that sees hero Nathan Drake on the trail of a centuries-old treasure hidden by his rumoured ancestor, legendary explorer Sir Francis Drake. With a compelling story, jaw-dropping graphics and tense, involving gameplay, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a must-have for PlayStation 3.
Of course, sometimes you want to get all your friends round for a bit of a party, and for those occasions there's nothing better than SingStar. As well as being a huge smash on PlayStation 2, with countless versions out there to cater to every taste, SingStar is now making its way to PlayStation 3. What makes the PS3 version different however, is the addition of the SingStore - a huge and constantly updated online store of SingStar songs that can be downloaded whenever you want to supplement the 30 songs already supplied on the game disc. With a variety of songs at your fingertips, there's no better way to get the party started.
If it's pure, unadulterated fun you're after, then Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction is the game for you. Bringing the hugely popular Lombax and robot duo into the next generation with all the weapons, humour and action you've come to expect from the series, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction is great fun for kids and adults alike.
PlayStation 2
Seven years after its launch and PS2 is still going strong, with a great line up of games this year. Top of the pile is the stunning God of War II, winner of two BAFTAs, a Golden Joystick, and one of the best games of 2007. Take control of Kratos, the deposed God of War as he battles his way across the ancient world to exact revenge upon Zeus, the King of the Gods, in an astonishing action adventure game that has to be played to be believed.
If music's more your thing however, then Guitar Hero III will be right up your street. Strap on the wireless Kramer guitar controller and rock out to over 70 playable songs, take on a friend in the new battle mode, or work together and play through the co-operative career mode. Featuring music by bands such as Weezer, Bloc Party, The Beastie Boys, The Who and Black Sabbath, there's something for the armchair rock star in everyone.
PSP (PlayStation Portable)
For those who like to take their games with them, PSP has got you covered. Cinematic presentation and tense, stealth-oriented action abound in Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, a gripping story of espionage, double-crosses and divided loyalties set amongst the operatives of an international counter-terrorist unit. Featuring some of the best graphics ever seen on PSP, and thrilling action-based gameplay, this is one game you're not going to want to miss.
Those looking for more cerebral thrills however, should check out Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, a game that combines gem-swapping turn-based puzzle action with a sword-and-sorcery quest as you challenge orcs, dark wizards and undead hordes to games of wits rather than sword fights. It manages to combine the best elements of both puzzles and role-playing in a game that you're sure to be playing long after your train journey has finished.
