PlayStation Network has got you covered, with a great selection of boredom-busting fun.
PlayStation Network is your one-stop shop for all your entertainment needs. As well as great videos, demos and trailers for top upcoming software titles, there's a fantastic range of games that you can download for a bargain price. Here are some of the highlights available in June:
Super Stardust HD
Essentially a gorgeous, high-definition reworking of Asteroids, Super Stardust HD is a game that is simple in concept but absolutely masterful in execution. You control a spaceship hovering over a planet floating in the middle of space. Your mission is simple: destroy everything in sight. Your ship is armed with three different weapons, each of which has a different effect on different kinds of asteroids and enemies. It's frantic blasting action all the way as you dodge asteroids, blast enemy ships and collect power ups in this brilliant space-based shooter.
Nucleus
While Super Stardust HD may be huge in scope, Nucleus is as small as possible, taking place within the cells of a human body. Instead of blasting asteroids and aliens you fight bacteria, while swimming around in a human bloodstream in a miniaturised remote unit. The remote unit is also fitted with a cell tractor beam that allows you to manipulate cells, dragging them around you to form a shield. Like Super Stardust HD and Blast Factor, Nucleus is fast and furious shooting action but transplanted to an unusual setting with a great ambient soundtrack and a whole host of extras and secrets to unlock.
Calling All Cars!
The brainchild of Twisted Metal and God of War creator David Jaffe, Calling All Cars! is a crazy slice of fast-paced, criminal-catching fun. Brilliantly fast-paced, and with a jazzy, 1930s feel to it Calling All Cars is some of the most fun multiplayer action you can have as you and your friends tear around a fully destructible city, trying to capture escaping criminals and return them to prison. You can better your odds by collecting wacky weapons like missiles, giant mallets and huge, criminal-attracting magnets, and if that doesn't work, ramming your opponents as hard as possible seems to do the trick. Put simply Calling All Cars! is excellent multiplayer fun and one of the best adverts for the PlayStation Network that there is.
Resistance: Fall of Man Map Pack
Fans of the brilliant first-person shooter Resistance: Fall of Man are in for a treat with the release of an expansion pack featuring two brand new multiplayer maps. Take the struggle against the dread Chimera to two breathtakingly atmospheric additional locations: the snowy hills of Westmorland and leafy Camborn. Of course, they won't stay peaceful and idyllic for long as you launch silent sniper attacks across the snowy slopes of Westmorland, taking cover in the shadow of Chimeran architecture, or go below ground with all guns blazing to save autumnal Camborn from the plague of inhuman invaders.
MotorStorm: Time Attack Mode
MotorStorm just got more competitive with the addition of Time Attack Mode. See if you've got what it takes to set the pace and race against the clock to set the best possible lap times on each of the tracks, then check out the global leader boards to see how fast you really are. You can also create and share ghost car laps that you can race with to improve your skill, or show off your technique to the world.
