Cause destruction on your way to first place with this guide to the most explosive racing demo on PlayStation Store.

In Split/Second: Velocity you must race through courses that have been rigged to blow. You can decide when the explosives are triggered but so can your opponents. Download the free demo from PlayStation Store to try out the Airport Terminal level and follow these tips to master the napalm ballet ahead of the full game's release.

You've got the power

It's all well and good sticking to the racing line and staying out of trouble, but if you want to get ahead of the pack then you're going to have to blow some stuff up. To do this, you need to build your Powerplay meter with flashy driving. Slipstreaming an opponent, as in driving directly behind them, will do this, and so will jumps and drifting around corners. Tap the L2 button to squeeze on the brakes and start a drift as you head into the apex of a corner. The longer you hold the drift, the more power you will earn and, before you know it, you'll have enough to make some loud noises...

Flight cancelled

There are two levels of Powerplays available at certain points on the course. Level one Powerplays are isolated events and include explosive barrels dropped from helicopters and a particularly unstable petrol station. Level two Powerplays are where you really start causing damage and take out multiple opponents, or even change the course entirely. Ones to look out for in the demo include a collapsing radio tower smashing open a new route and an out of control jumbo jet careering down the runway, taking out anything in its path.

Cutting corners

Not all Powerplays are about creating employment opportunities in the construction industry - some open up sneaky short cuts to aid your lap times. Just after you leave the runway section of the Airport Terminal course, look out for a yellow hydraulic lift. You can raise it for a limited time and slide under; time it just right and it will come crashing down on any opponents that try to follow you.

Download the free Split/Second: Velocity demo guide from PlayStation Store and get behind the wheel of the most volatile racing game on PlayStation 3.
