Creating a super soldier
In Captain America: Super Soldier on PlayStation 3, the storyline centres on the Marvel superhero's mission to infiltrate and destroy the Hydra forces high up in the Bavarian mountains.
The script was penned by renowned Marvel scribe, Christos Gage, who has worked on comic books including Iron Man and Spider-Man. Alongside a thrilling storyline by Gage, the game stars Chris Evans as Captain America. Evans plays the character in the big budget adaption hitting screens in summer 2011.
Once you have battled your way through the campaign mode, the action continues in a series of increasingly tough challenges. Each one is unlocked as you progress and complete the various objectives set out for you, and range from taking down waves of enemies in an allotted time, to performing specific combat moves in a specific order.
Heroes and villains
There is a whole host of classic characters from the Captain America comic book series in Captain America: Super Soldier on PlayStation 3.
The story takes place in the universe established by the 2011 blockbuster film, Captain America: The First Avenger, and you'll meet a host of Marvel characters such as Peggy Carter and Bucky Barnes. While Peggy was Captain America's girlfriend during World War II, Bucky served as his sidekick in the early days of the superhero's escapades.
There is also an appearance from Howard Stark, a familiar face in the Marvel universe who also happens to be the father of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. While there are plenty of good guys in Captain America: Super Soldier, there are also loads of classic villains including the grotesque Red Skull and the giant robot, Iron Cross.
Wield the shield
It's time to hurl the mighty shield of justice at evil in Captain America: Super Soldier on PlayStation 3. Taking on the role of Marvel's First Avenger, you have a range of hand-to-hand attacks at your disposal in your battle to destroy the forces of the dastardly Hydra organisation.
To strike an enemy, press the Square button on your wireless controller, and to grab them, quickly press the Triangle button when close to an opponent, then tap the Square button to unleash a flurry of punches. Counter-attacks can be executed by pressing the Circle button as soon as you see an enemy is about to deliver a hit. If you've timed it correctly, you'll instantly block and deliver a bone-crunching counter that's guaranteed to take them out of the fight.
Alongside incredibly agile combat skills, you also have Captain America's iconic shield at your side. Master it early in the game to become a true Marvel superhero. You can throw the shield and take out multiple opponents by tapping the R2 button, or block an attack by holding down the L1 button on your wireless controller.
For a devastatingly precise attack that's perfect for hitting explosive canisters, hold down the L2 button to enter Aim mode, pick your target with the right stick and then unleash the shield by pressing the R2 button. Good luck, Captain - America and the world is counting on you.
