The final act
Fasten your seat belts and hold on to your wireless controller for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the final chapter in one of the most thrilling and explosive first person shooter sagas on PlayStation 3.
Picking up right where Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 left off, this latest instalment and last act of the epic and villainous Makarov saga sees you step into the combat boots of a whole host of characters including Captain John 'Soap' MacTavish, SAS Captain John Price and Delta Force operative, Sergeant Derek 'Frost' Westbrook as well as the SAS operative, Sergeant Marcus Burns.
Your goal is a simple one, and will require every ounce of strength you have along with a quick trigger finger. You must battle through each character's story in a desperate bid to capture the terrorist leader, Makarov, who has been wreaking havoc around the world, and put a halt to battles throughout the globe that edge humanity terrifyingly close to a new World War.
Lock 'n' load
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on PlayStation 3 the action is fast and furious, and thankfully you'll have a huge arsenal of weapons to get to grips with as you fight terrorists and chase down the maniac that is Makarov. These include machine guns, pistols, explosive devices and mounted mini-guns on vehicles such as tanks and helicopters.
Although you might be tempted to simply storm into battle in a bid to take every enemy down, you shouldn't. You'll be cut down in an instant. With that in mind, remember to always look for cover and stay low by pressing the Circle button on your wireless controller to crouch. It's harder for an opponent to hit you in this position, while also allowing for much greater accuracy when firing your weapon. If, however, you find yourself a little too close to a foe, quickly press the R3 button to unsheathe your blade for a fast takedown.
Things can get pretty heated in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and it's not just the bad guys that can kill you - the environment is just as deadly. Watch out for burning cars that will explode and wipe you and your teammates out. If you find yourself next to a live grenade, be sure to grab it before it detonates and throw it back at the enemy. To do this, press the R2 button on your wireless controller. War is hell, and to win it you'll need to employ each of these tactics and much more if you want to survive.
Online Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 features a number of multiplayer modes that can be experienced via PlayStation Network. A brand new addition to the co-operative multiplayer is Survival mode, which tasks you and a friend with battling endless waves of enemies in a small environment. Special Ops mode makes a return to co-operative multiplayer with a whole host of fresh missions for you and a friend to tackle, including kidnapping the Russian President and scoring the best time on a shooting range.
The Killstreak reward system from Modern Warfare 2 has been completely revamped and is now called Pointstreak, which awards you with points for completing various objectives during multiplayer matches such as planting bombs and capturing enemy bases. The more points you gain, the better the perks you can call upon during battle including helicopters, Predator drones and SAM Turrets.
There is a vast number of modes for you to play through and hone your skills in, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed. While Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch have been regulars of the Call of Duty series over the years, Kill Confirmed makes its debut in Modern Call of Duty: Warfare 3. The objective is to take an enemy down by any means necessary and then grab the floating dog tags from their downed body in order to confirm the kill and get the points. Be warned though: opponents can steal these if you don't make it to them in time, so move fast if you want to win.
