Story

Let your imagination wander...

Following the death of her family in a fire years ago, Alice is haunted by horrific visions and nightmares. She leaves her orphanage and follows a mysterious cat through the streets of Victorian London until she begins hallucinating about Wonderland and her past.

Suddenly, Alice finds herself in the company of the Cheshire Cat, who warns her that Wonderland is not the place it used to be. Twisted, shattered and demented, Wonderland has been ravaged and Alice must find the culprit.

Welcome to Alice: Madness Returns - a dark take on Lewis Carroll's fantasy novel about a young girl who gets lost within the surreal world of Wonderland.

Deranged creatures such as Madcaps and Eyepots live throughout the nightmarish land. Madcaps are goblin-like beings bearing cutlery weapons and tea set armour, whilst the one eyed, arachnid-like Eyepots are crafted from the Mad Hatter's teapots.

Wonderland is an obscure maze of areas created from the most peculiar materials. Twisted stairways, colourful rivers, huge playing cards, dodos, exotic forests and oversized machinery all lie within just one chapter.

Fortunately, Alice possesses some beautiful but deadly abilities to help her get around and survive the horrors she will face. Use her dress - which mysteriously changes colour at random intervals - to effortlessly float around Wonderland  or transform into a swarm of butterflies to dodge attacks and unleash an almighty bout of furious rage to slay an enemy when your health deteriorates during battle.

Gameplay

Welcome to Wonderland

Take on the role of Alice - a disturbed girl living in an orphanage in Victorian London, traumatised by the death of her parents. Alice suffers from surreal and disturbing visions and finds herself trapped within the twisted terrain of Wonderland on PlayStation 3.

You must brave the horrors of a once beautiful Wonderland and discover the secrets behind its demise. Hideous creatures lurk within each level, from the mechanical, wasp-like Bolterfly to the grotesque, slime-covered Insidious Ruin. Collect weapons including a Vorpal Blade and Pepper Grinder to slash and blast enemies with, or find an umbrella to shield yourself from attacks.

Keep an eye out for extra treats lying around, too. You'll find Alice's memories scattered throughout each level which you can collect to build up a picture of her past, along with a shrinking potion so you can squeeze into new areas and through keyholes. There are also loads of teeth lying around that can be used to upgrade weapons, so collect as many of these as you can to make sure you're ready to take on the next revolting creature you come across.
