Unforgettable anime style
Become a powerful ninja in one of the most distinctive beat 'em ups on PlayStation 3 by battling against some of the toughest foes ever assembled and learning an awe-inspiring arsenal of moves, all within a world of dazzling colour.
In Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, you must absorb new techniques and put them to the test in a variety of interactive battle arenas. Featuring retina-scorching High Definition visuals and some outrageously over the top action sequences, it is both a faithful recreation of the cult anime series it's based on and a unique adventure in its own right.
Even the menu screen is drenched in Naruto's standout style, and here you'll find a choice of three game modes. Ultimate Adventure Mode follows the fate of Naruto and his sidekick Sakura as they journey through a series of beautifully drawn locations from the anime series, taking part in key battles and side quests. Customisable fights between any of the unlocked characters can be found in Free Battle Mode, while Online Battle Mode allows you to show off your ninja skills to the world via PlayStation Network.
Whether you're dedicated to classic anime or remarkable beat 'em ups, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is a truly electrifying experience you won't forget in a hurry.
Fearless, strong-willed and skilful, Naruto is the undoubted star of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, yet he's supported by a huge cast of more than 40 characters from the anime series, all of whom are accurately recreated in stunning High Definition.
There's a favourite brawler for every fan, whether it's the ninja Sasuke and his evil brother Itachi or the all knowing sensei Guy and his loyal student, Lee. Among other newcomers, Killer Bee appears for the first time on PlayStation 3, complete with the fearsome alter ego lurking inside him and, in a treat for Tekken 6 fans, Lars Alexandersson is an unlockable bonus character – he even does battle in a costume designed by Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto.
Thanks to the quick pace of the main story, new faces are frequently introduced, meaning a fresh approach to combat lies just around the next corner. Even if you're brand new to the Naruto phenomenon, you'll easily remember new individuals thanks to some iconic character design and a wealth of intriguing backstory.
Teach them a lesson
Life as an elite ninja is incredibly varied, and you can be sure of one thing: plenty of bruises. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 dishes them out with abandon – and as Naruto, you can give as good as you get.
While there's plenty of opportunity to embark on entertaining side quests to find hidden treasures, frenetic head-to-head showdowns form the bulk of the Ultimate Adventure Mode. These story missions reveal enemies' motivations, as well as advancing the plot and pointing you to your next port of call, not to mention being the most spectacular encounters in the game.
The battle system is simple at first, and offers deceptive depth as you master its subtleties. You have one close-up attack and one long-range strike – using deadly shuriken in Naruto's case – and by using a magical energy known as Chakra, you can supercharge these with devastating force. The result is a huge number of moves as you combine Chakra moves with basic strikes to leave an enemy dazed and deflated.
It's richly rewarding, with complex chains being linked together as much as your imagination – and reflexes – will allow. Battles don't stop there – some sequences require you to speedily input button commands in the heat of battle to keep you on your toes, unlocking secret cutscenes which give away more snippets of the story.
Add in special items which can drastically reduce an enemy's power, more than 20 fully destructible stages and eye-wateringly slick action, and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is a blistering assault on the senses.
Kick up a storm
The Ultimate Adventure Mode is a mighty test of your battling abilities, but for the ultimate challenge, take the fight online and mix it with the very best on PlayStation Network in tense one-on-one encounters.
Online battles are fully customisable, so you can simply dive into the fray or limit the number of items and special moves used. Thanks to the vast range of options open to you, every opponent you meet will have their own unique fighting style – some will sit back and wait until you wear yourself out before striking, others will simply unleash a barrage of shock and awe and hope to stun you into submission.
It's a tough world, and one that ultimately rewards practice. Work out your own strategies, lure opponents into critical sucker punches, inch your way up the leaderboards and teach your mates a lesson in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 on PlayStation 3.
