Kemco's stealth-friendly, anti-terrorist third-person actioner tiptoes noiselessly onto PS2
When ex-Green Beret Nikki Connors' daughter and husband are murdered by nefarious organisation 'Omega 9', the plucky heroine vows sweet revenge. Returning to her anti-terrorist roots, Nikki heads off on a covert government mission to infiltrate the evil corporation in search of intel, not to mention a spot of hot-lead justice while she's at it, too. Entering the fray armed to her back-teeth, the fearless, not to mention curvaceous, agent sets about accessing the organisation using those time-honoured tactics of stealth, stealth and yet more stealth.
Sneaking around a la Solid Snake, Sam Fisher and co, you'll embark on eight different missions in your quest to collar the terrorist types and uncover the truth behind Nikki's family's assassination. If you've ever played any of the other leading stealth-action genre titles, such as Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, you'll no doubt find yourself on largely familiar territory with Rogue Ops' gameplay. The missions essentially involve the usual winning mix of real-time combat, stealth kills and various exploration and puzzle-solving antics. Nikki also sports a range of cool spy gadgetry, including the nifty 'fly-cam' - a tiny camera which can be controlled and flown into tight spots.
Being an evil terrorist organisation intent on global domination, you'll be pleased to hear that Omega 9 won't be going down without a fight either. You'll need to fend off an army of goons along the way using a rather nifty stealth-kill system or, on occasion, just go all-out ballistic and gun down any bad guys that get in your path. The action is paced quite evenly throughout the game, so the stealthy aspects are balanced out nicely by liberal doses of good, wholesome run and gun combat moments, as well as the option to chose how your mission progresses, with moral choices to make and alternate outcomes to discover.
- Enter the fray armed with a diverse range of weaponry, from handguns and sniper rifles to throwing stars and a taser
- Unique stealth kill mechanics create a greater sense of immersion
- Explore diverse environments over eight action-packed missions
