Reckon you can mix it with the best of them? Here's your chance to prove it.
Having a go at mixing dance music is one of those activities that everyone would like to try, but only a select few actually do. The sheer financial outlay is a massive deterrent - after all, once you've got the decks, speakers, and mixing equipment, you still need a big wodge of vinyl to put it all to good use.
Never mind - thanks to DJ - Decks & FX, you can get mixing using only your PlayStation 2! Simulating a fully-featured set of decks and providing a box of somewhat large tunes, the game lets you get into the art of mixing without making you file for bankruptcy.
Everything you could possibly want to do with a set of decent dance records can be done in DJ - Decks & FX (except for flinging them across the room like musical Frisbees). As well as the two turntables, there are functions allowing you to sample and loop your records, pre-recorded samples that you can throw into the mix, and controls that allow you to bring out the bass or treble at will.
While it takes a little while to get the hang of it all if you've never DJ'd before, once you nail your first mix you'll never stop. A cracking list of tunes helps matters, too - if you're into your dance music then be assured that there's plenty to nod your head to.
If you have a USB headset, you can even cue a record up privately before dropping it into the mix at just the right moment. This is the ultimate in after-hours entertainment!
