Want to defeat Sauron once and for all in LEGO The Lord of the Rings on PS3? These hints from Traveller's Tales may help...

"Nobody tosses a dwarf!"

As you progress through the story you're introduced to new playable characters, so be sure to use their unique abilities to solve puzzles. Whenever you're in control of a new character, read the on-screen hints to help tackle the brain teasers their abilities can be used for.

Leave no LEGO brick standing

If you're stuck and can't work out what you need to do, make sure you have destroyed every LEGO object you can see. This earns you more LEGO studs and reveals hidden items.

The adventure never ends

Once a story level has been completed you can play it again in Freeplay mode. To find every hidden treasure in the levels, unlock many different characters with a range of abilities to solve all the puzzles.

Precious bonuses at Bree

Alternatively, you can forge items by visiting the blacksmiths at Bree. Just make sure you've found the blueprint design and collected the rare Mithril bricks otherwise they can't help you. These items will give any character additional abilities when equipped... although the ice lolly is just for show.

Off the beaten track

LEGO The Lord of the Rings allows you to explore Middle-earth, recreated in LEGO form. If you want to head to the next story level, follow the LEGO stud trail. However, going in a different direction will often lead to secret, hidden items and puzzles that reward you with more studs and trinkets.

Become a Middle-earth master

Getting to 100 per cent completion in LEGO The Lord of the Rings is easier if you discover red brick extras. LEGO stud multipliers or brick detectors will both help enormously in your quest, so be sure to collect enough studs to afford them.

To make getting around Middle-earth easier, make good use of the map. When you first get to a new area, use the Map Stone to put the locations of hidden items and quests onto your map. You can also instantly travel between Map Stones, which makes getting from Hobbiton to Mordor much easier the second time round.

Think you're ready to battle Sauron and his evil hordes? Buy LEGO The Lord of the Rings from PlayStation Store, grab your weapons, armour and these tips, and begin your legendary quest today.
