Alberto Dominguez, lead game designer and development director at Enigma Software Productions, answers questions about Legends of War: Patton's Campaign on PSP.
How would you introduce Enigma Software Productions?
This is our first game for PSP, but we are not new to the game industry. In fact, we have been developing games for PC for the last 15 years, mainly strategy titles, but also RPG, action and sports. In our team there are people with a lot of experience who have worked in companies like Electronic Arts, Pyro Studios, Zinkia...
What has been your experience of developing games?
You must be patient and persevere. When I started at the beginning of the 1990s, it was much more difficult to start in the game industry; there were almost no companies and very few developers with experience. Today it is easy to develop an idea and set up a company, but it's still difficult to find support and financial backers.
How did you find working with PSP for the first time?
We are pleased with the experience. All of the processes work very well at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and we are already in negotiations with Sony Computer Entertainment America to release the game in the United States.
Why did you choose to develop a turn-based strategy game?
We chose strategy because it is our speciality; we already had some experience with a turn-based game.
It is not the first approach to World War II in your games, although this time the action is focused on the exploits of General Patton. Why is this?
We have quite a lot of experience and knowledge about World War II and we have a large amount of assets and documentation thanks to the other games we have developed. We have chosen Patton because from our point of view he is the most charismatic general of that war.
Can we expect any expansion packs on PlayStation Store?
We are determined to expand the Legends of War saga with new titles. We think it's an interesting format and there is a lack of titles to satisfy tactical gamers. We want to make minis and have a small campaign with infiltration missions. We also want to make new titles in the series based on World War II, for instance the wanderings of General Rommel in Africa or Zhukov leading the Red Army on the Russian front.
You can download Legends of War: Patton's Campaign now from PlayStation Store.
