Master the board in our guide to the Skate 3 demo now on PlayStation Store.

In preparation for the release of the sequel to the smash hit skateboarding game, check out the eu.playstation.com guide to mastering the demo now available on PlayStation Store.

Watch the clock

Downloaded the Skate 3 demo from PlayStation Store? Great, now you can start grinding and performing all sorts of cool skateboarding tricks on your trusty board. Just remember, each time you begin the demo you have 20 minutes of gameplay time on your side before you have to restart it from the beginning. It's a great way to put your skateboarding skills to the test and see how fast you can complete the various objectives set out for you in the demo.

Coach Frank

Meet Coach Frank, the hilarious tutor in Skate 3 who is played by My Name Is Earl star, Jason Lee. Lee was also an extremely prominent skateboarding star during the 80s and 90s, so he's the perfect coach to guide you through the thrills and spills of skateboarding in Skate 3. And remember, pay attention to Coach Frank or you'll end up with a broken board and a bruised ego!

Skate school

The first thing you need to learn in the Skate 3 demo is the basics, so completing the tutorial with Coach Frank is recommended. Here you will learn everything from controlling your board on a flat surface, to power sliding, grinding, performing an Ollie and most importantly, using your board to perform amazing tricks that will earn you plenty of points when playing through the challenges set out for you.

Controlling the board is simple too: the Square and X button allow you to push the board with your foot to gain speed while the left stick controls your movement. The right stick is used to perform everything from power slides to Ollies and the vast amount of tricks at your disposal. Master the basics, and you will be a pro skater in no time.

Become a cover star

Ready for your first challenge? Once you've mastered the basic moves and feel comfortable on the board, your first task is to perform a trick off the edge of a jump so your friend can take a picture of you and submit it to the world famous skateboard magazine, Thrasher. Once you have completed the trick you can then edit the photo before submitting it. Using the Wireless Controller you can rotate the camera, zoom in and even adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation and depth of field.

Bail out

Bailing out is a fun thing to do in the Skate 3 demo. Here, you use your board to gain speed before jumping off a building ledge and dropping your board mid-air. Once you have done that, you then use the right stick to perform all sorts of zany poses in the air such as a cannonball, judo kick and torpedo. Watch out below, folks!

Chan Centre

The Chan Centre is where you will face your first set of true skateboarding challenges, so it's important that you master the basics before moving on to it. Here you have to grind on railings, concrete benches and leap over steps using your board and lots of speed. Watch out for the pedestrians though, they can get in your way and spoil a perfectly good trick.

Clock Knocker

Had fun learning the Bail out? You will love Clock Knocker. The goal is simple: leap from a bell tower, drop your board while sailing through the air and complete the list of crazy objectives such as landing in the rubbish containers and vending machines below while pulling different poses on the way down. Bombs away!
