Internet Browser

PSP™

All you need to know about using your PSP to surf the World Wide Web.

The browser functionality introduced in PSP system software update version 2.00 and above opens up a world of entertainment on PSP. As well as letting you download content to your PSP, you can surf to a number of websites.

When using the browser, please be aware that some websites may contain hazardous files such as viruses and hacking software that, when downloaded or opened, could damage the PSP hardware or corrupt data stored on your Memory Stick Duo. Accessing such files is performed at your own risk, and as such any damage caused is entirely your responsibility.

In order to launch the browser, you will need to connect your PSP to a Wireless (WLAN) Network using Infrastructure Mode.

Connection methods

[Connection Settings] has been added as a setting under [Tools] > [Settings].

Alternative methods for selecting the connection to use when connecting to the Internet are now available.

Auto-Select: The most recently used connection is selected automatically.

Select Manually: A connection is selected manually each time the Internet browser is launched.

Flash® Player

[Enable Flash® Player] has been added as a setting under [Settings] > [System Settings].

This setting is required to enable Macromedia® Flash® content to be displayed in [Internet Browser]. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform this operation. You must be connected to the Internet to activate this setting.

Note
  • The system supports Macromedia® Flash® Player 6; however some features are not supported.
  • To connect to the Internet, you must first create a connection for use in Infrastructure Mode.

Security

If you wish to prevent minors from accessing the Internet via your PSP, it is possible to stop the browser launching unless a PIN number is entered correctly.

To do this, enter [Security Settings], and set Internet Browser Start Control to On (unless you have set your own PIN number, the default PIN to access this option will be 0000).

Once activated, you will be asked to enter your PIN every time you attempt to launch the browser.

Hints & tips

The input history of online forms accessed through [Internet Browser] can now be saved.

Text entered previously on an online form via a Web page is saved and displayed the next time the same Web page is accessed.

Hint: You can delete saved content in [Delete Input History] under [Tools].

You can set the Date and Time automatically on your PSP using the browser functionality. Navigate to [Set via Internet] in Date and Time under [Date & Time Settings] in [Settings].

You can connect to the Internet over a Wireless (WLAN) to automatically adjust date and time settings.

Hint: To use [Set via Internet], you must first create a connection for use in Infrastructure Mode.
