An update to the PSP system software was released on April 08, 2008. If you update your PSP system, the system software version will be 3.95 and the following features will be updated.

Main features updated in version 3.95

Game

A new option for playing PlayStation format software has been added.

You can now select [Custom] for the assignment pattern under [Assign Buttons]. This option enables you to assign functions to the PSP system buttons however you like for playing PlayStation format software that you download from PLAYSTATION Store.

For details on playing PlayStation format software, refer to the user's guide for the PSP system.

To use this option:

  • Press the HOME button on the PSP system when you are playing PlayStation format software and then select [Controller Settings] > [Assign Buttons].
  • Press the down button several times to select [Custom], and then press the X button.

  • Use the PSP system's directional buttons to assign button functions. Pressing the triangle button resets the button assignments to [Type 1].

Network

You can now choose to turn off your PS3 system or leave it turned on when quitting Remote Play. For details on Remote Play, refer to the user's guide for the PSP system.

To use this setting:

  • During Remote Play, press the HOME button on the PSP system and then select [Quit Remote Play].

  • Select [Quit and Turn Off the PS3 system] or [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3 system].

Select [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3 System] if you are using your PS3 system to copy files, or perform background downloading and similar tasks that require you to keep your system on.

Note

  • This system software update includes all features contained in previous versions.
  • The new system software will preserve any settings previously made to the PSP (such as the Parental Control level).
  • Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play without first updating the PSP system software.
  • Do not perform updates using any data other than the official update data provided by Sony Computer Entertainment over a network or on disc media, and do not perform updates by methods other than those described in the product documentation or in this site. If an update is performed using data from another source, by another method, or with a PSP system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PSP system may not operate properly and may not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions may void the PSP system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.
