DVD Parental Control features

PLAYSTATION®2

PlayStation 2 features an easy-to-use Parental Control function. Read on for full details.

The use the Parental Control feature, simply follow these steps:

  • With a DVD disc inserted in your PS2, press the Select button to bring up the on-screen Control Panel.
  • Press the X button to select the Setup icon.
  • Use the directional pad to reach the "Custom Setup" menu, and press the X button.
  • Move to "Parental Control" and select with the X button. A window will appear asking you to enter a four-digit password.
  • Enter your choice of password using the number buttons that appear then enter it again for confirmation.
  • You're now able to set the Parental Control level using the "Region" and "Level" options, and change your password.

Changing the Region setting allows you to alter the Parental Control to the code used in your own country, while adjusting the Level changes the strictness of the limitations imposed.

A lower Level value indicates stricter security, while setting it to "Off" removes all restrictions.

Once you're happy with your settings, eject the DVD before resetting or switching off your PlayStation 2, otherwise the changes will not be saved.

If you want to play a disc that is protected by Parental Control, you simply have to insert the disc and enter your password when prompted - the Parental Control level will return to your original setting once the DVD is stopped.

If you forget your password, consult the PlayStation 2 instruction manual for further details on how to reset it.

Note: Playback of DVDs without Parental Control functions cannot be restricted on the PlayStation 2 DVD Player.
