The FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC), an annual worldwide event that pitches players of EA's latest version of FIFA against each other, kicks off in October 2007.

Available exclusively on PLAYSTATION 3 and PLAYSTATION Network, players must first get through a local qualifying round on their way to being crowned the world champion. These will be taking place in locations all around the world and involve online events such as matches being played on PLAYSTATION Network as well as live events where players will play face-to-face against their opponents.

Once the qualifiers have been completed, the best players from all over the world will be invited to battle it out at the FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Final. In 2007/08, the Grand final will be taking place in Berlin between the top 32 players of FIFA 08 on PLAYSTATION 3 in the world. The winner of the competition will be crowned the FIFA Interactive World Champion and win $20,000 prize money.
