Games galore

PlayStation®3

Leipzig games convention is the place to come for exciting new games, and the most exciting of all are to be found on PlayStation 3.

Leipzig Games Convention gives visitors the chance to see the most anticipated new games first, and get a taste of what they'll be playing in the upcoming months. In addition to the impressive line up on show throughout Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's Leipzig stand, a whole host of games from other publishers were on display letting the general public get their hands on what are sure to be some of the biggest games of Christmas 2007 and beyond. Here are some of the highlights.

Stranglehold

A follow up to John Woo's 1992 action classic Hard Boiled, Stranglehold sees you controlling Hard Boiled's hero, the grizzled cop Inspector "Tequila" Yuen. Playing like an interactive version of one of Woo's movies, Stranglehold is non-stop action all the way as Tequila takes on the Mafia and the Triads using Tequila Time, a slow motion technique that allows you to pick off enemies as you dive cinematically through the air. The version on show at Leipzig is looking incredible, and promises a truly cinematic experience come its release on PlayStation 3.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008

The latest game in the incredibly popular Pro Evolution Soccer series, PES 2008 brings the beautiful game into the next generation with stunning High Definition visuals and the most realistic and responsive control system yet. Thanks to the brand new Teamvision Artificial Intelligence system, opposing teams will adapt their play to suit your playing style and counter your attacks. Judging by the queue at Konami's stand, PES is as popular as ever, and with a release date of October 2007 there's not long to wait to get your hands on the next generation of football action.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Solid Snake is back in what is being billed as his last ever adventure. Set in 2014, and starring an aging and disillusioned Snake, MGS4 takes all the tactical stealth espionage action of the previous games and pairs it with incredible visuals, breathtaking animation and a compelling and engrossing story. A PS3 exclusive, MGS4 looks like being one of the PS3 system's defining games, and is sure to be a must-buy for PS3 owners on its release.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

The unstoppable Guitar Hero series makes the leap to the next generation with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on PlayStation 3. Featuring an all-new Battle Mode, unlockable legends (including Guns ‘N' Roses axeman Slash) and Wireless Guitar Controllers, not to mention an awesome track list that includes bands as diverse as Muse, The Beastie Boys and Weezer, Guitar Hero III is shaping up to be the perfect game for armchair virtuosos everywhere.
