With brand new franchises from the world's finest developers and highly anticipated sequels on show, PlayStation 3 has something for everyone.
Sony Computer Entertainment America hosted its annual press conference at the E3 conference in Los Angeles - and used the occasion to show off an incredibly diverse range of first party PS3 titles, all exclusive to the system.
Killzone 2, the sequel to the PlayStation 2 smash, was shown for the first time since its original unveiling at E3 2005, with real-time action demonstrating an awe-inspiring level of detail and action. A truly next generation experience, Killzone 2 places you into the midst of an unbelievably intense war on the home planet of the Helghast. Unrivalled facial animation and details like masonry being chewed up by the torrent of enemy gunfire adds up to an extraordinarily immersive shooter.
Also revealed at the conference was Infamous, a new game from Sucker Punch Productions (the team responsible for the popular Sly Cooper series). Set in city where the player can go as they please, the game's character develops super powers - but it's up to you how they are used. Depending on the choices you make as you play, the city and population will evolve and react, making for a unique experience for each player.
Racing fans are also catered for, with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue showing the future direction of Polyphony Digital's genre-defining driving simulation to stunning effect.
After the presentation, the upcoming line-up of PS3 titles was demonstrated to attendees, with the latest builds of forthcoming games like Heavenly Sword, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, The Eye of Judgment and LittleBigPlanet available to try. A range of new titles scheduled for PlayStation Network was also on show.
It's certainly an exciting time for PlayStation 3 owners. Check the PlayStation Store for High Definition trailers of many of the games mentioned here.
