He's mean, green and very, very keen to smash his way through your PS2 and believe us, you wouldn't like him when he's angry

Spider-Man? Check. X-Men? Check. Daredevil? Check. Marvel's pantheon of comic characters is being rapidly exhausted by ravenous filmmakers, hungry to find that summer blockbuster. Next in line for the Hollywood treatment is the green goliath himself, The Hulk and true to form the game is just as big.

For those of you who have lived in a cave for the past thirty years, The (Incredible) Hulk is the story of Dr. Bruce Banner, a scientist irradiated by Gamma radiation in a freak accident. Whenever Banner gets angry, the Gamma radiation causes him to transform into a huge, green, muscle-bound monster capable of super-human feats of strength. Bruce fight is to rid himself of the creature within.

Like the Spider-Man game-of-the-film from Activision, the PS2 iteration of The Hulk takes the action of the movie and goes beyond, offering new opponents, challenges and locations not featured in the film. This third-person action adventure has a split personality of its own, featuring two differing styles of gameplay for both Dr Banner and his Hulk persona.

The Banner levels require stealth and guile as you use your grey matter to overcome the challenges between you and a cure. But get angry and the Hulk comes out to play. As you'd expect, these levels revolve more around you fists and ability to throw large objects at small people. The fully destructive and interactive environments can be damaged, bits can be ripped from the walls and used as weapons and anything lying around can be picked up and thrown at Hulk's enemies. In fact, the Hulk can crush puny bad-guys using over 45 devastating attacks throughout the game's 25 levels.

Visually, the game draws its inspiration from both the live action movie and the comics featuring a unique realistic cel-shading not seen before. With the pedigree of Ang Lee's film behind it and even more rippling Hulk action taken from the comic universe the Hulk is one HUGE game. The question is, can you handle the power?

  • Based on Ang Lee's hit movie blockbuster

  • Play as Dr Banner and the rampaging Hulk

  • Over 45 Hulk-busting attacks

  • Fully destructible environments - pick up and throw anything you find

  • Unique semi-cel shaded graphics
