Indulge your senses in a fusion of puzzle, lights and music.

The latest installment to the blockbuster series comes packed with brand new skins and new modes exclusive to PlayStation 3.

Lumines Supernova combines puzzles, block-dropping beats and video entertainment to create an addictively fun gameplay experience that will keep you playing day after day.

The game offers 40 skins in the Challenge Mode alone, as well as several different single player modes, including the all-new Sequencer Mode that sees you battle it out with a friend or create your own background music.

  • Enjoy unlimited gameplay and unlock up to 40 stylish skins in Challenge Mode, including brand new skins
  • Using the falling blocks, erase squares from a playing field already filled with blocks as you dig down to the bottom
  • Create your own background music using the sound loops provided in the Sound Bank, each with 20 different variations

Let Lumines get under your skin

The addictive puzzle game arrives on PlayStation 3 with new modes and enhanced visuals.

Arranging falling blocks according to their colour has been the basis for many videogames, from the arcade classic Klax, to Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo on the original PlayStation and PlayStation Store.

Lumines Supernova sticks with the same tried and tested formula as the original Lumines, which first appeared on PSP in 2005. Square blocks, made up of four smaller blocks that are light or dark in colour, fall from the top of the screen. The aim is to rotate and manoeuvre them to create squares of one colour. A Time Line moves across the screen at regular intervals, removing any squares created and bonus points are on offer for removing multiple blocks with one Time Line.

Advancement to the next level is represented by a changing Skin; a new background and block type appears and the music changes, along with the speed at which the blocks fall. One of the unique aspects of Lumines is the way the electronic music is integrated into the gameplay, with the Time Line and the blocks all obeying the rhythm of the beat.

In this edition of the game, downloadable from PlayStation Store, the graphics have been given a High Definition overhaul and there are several brand new features to play, as well as the Challenge, Time Attack, Mission and Puzzle modes from Lumines on PSP. Dig Down is one of these additions, and the aim is to clear two columns of jumbled up blocks, which get higher and therefore more challenging with each stage.

You can take on a friend in the multiplayer mode, with the winner being the last one standing, or you can compare your high scores with the rest of the world on the leaderboards.

Another great feature is the Sequencer, which allows you to create your own music tracks and play with them in the background. It’s very simple to create catchy tunes using drum loops, sound effects and synthesiser samples, and increasing the tempo not only speeds up your track, it makes playing along to it more difficult.

Lumines is fiendishly addictive on PSP, and this has been carried over to its PlayStation Network version, with improved visuals and extra game modes added on top. Its genius lies in its simplicity; it’s a game that is easy to pick up and extremely difficult to master, offering fun for everyone.

Download Lumines Supernova from PlayStation Store; you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away.
