Take on General Grevious in this hilarious taster for LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars on PS3, available now.

Experience the funniest, most action-packed collision of iconic building blocks and intergalactic conflict yet with the LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Demo. Now available to download for PlayStation 3 from PlayStation Store, check out our essential guide to completing the demo and prepare yourself for split sides and shattered droids.

Chasing Shadows

Lead the Y-Wings of Shadow Squadron in a daring mission to ambush General Grevious' fearsome vessel, The Malevolence, in the Shadows of Malevolence level. As Anakin Skywalker, you must prevent the biomechanical menace from assaulting a medical station by putting The Malevolence out of action. A frantic space dogfight plays out in this part of the demo, as Skywalker and his squadron take on flak batteries and enemy fighters in a bid to destroy the ship's devastating ion cannon before it can be fired up.

Master Malevolence

Escape General Grevious' stricken ship, The Malevolence, in Destroy Malevolence, the second of the two game modes on offer in the demo. With Padme Amidala and her faithful protocol droid C-3PO the victims of a devious plan to bargain with the Republic, it falls to Obi-Wan Kenobe and Anakin Skywalker to battle through the gigantic ship – teeming with attack droids and fraught with hazards – to liberate Amidala and beat a hasty exit. Can you storm the ship before the Republic delivers its final, crushing blow?

Hit and run

Smash droid enemies and destroy LEGO structures to swell your collection of LEGO studs. These studs are, in effect, your life meter. The bigger your collection of studs, the more attempts you'll have to continue should your plucky Jedi bite the dust. The joy of any LEGO Star Wars game comes from ripping through each level in search of collectibles, and LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is no exception. So remember: if an object sparkles, you can tear it to pieces and add its bricks to your collection.

A Force to be reckoned with

Give your comrades a welcome lift by using your impressive command of the Force to access even the trickiest corners of each level. Each area is full of hidden nooks and crannies, high ledges and faraway platforms, and by pressing the Circle button you can levitate R2-D2 or C-3PO over gaps to reach switches and special areas full of LEGO bonus items.

Rail against the machines

Watch out in the early part of the Destroy Malevolence level. Whenever you send R2-D2 off to activate switches in the monorail section of the demo, a train arrives bearing a troop of laser-spewing droids. Be prepared to quickly switch back to either Obi-Wan or Anakin by tapping the Triangle button and reduce each attack squad to a sorry pile of scorched nuts and bolts with your lightsaber.

Screen icons

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars lets you switch between two teams, so you can attack objectives from different angles. A window in the top right of the screen shows what the second team is up to, and whether they need you to assume direct control. When the window starts to flash, quickly press and hold the Triangle button to switch teams and fight your way out of a sticky situation. Flitting between the squads also helps you get a fresh perspective of a problem.

Download this quirky, loveable take on the Star Wars universe to your PlayStation 3 from PlayStation Store today and take General Grevious' plans to pieces, brick by brick.
